India Strengthens Consular Support for Citizens Traveling in Russia
India has expanded its diplomatic presence in Russia with the opening of two new Consulates General in Kazan and Yekaterinburg in November 2025.
Today, India has five diplomatic missions in Russia:

The expansion reflects the growing connections between India and Russia in tourism, education, business and cultural exchange.
Why is this important for Indian travelers?
Having more consular offices across Russia makes it easier for Indian citizens to receive assistance with: ā¢ emergency situations ā¢ lost passports or travel documents ā¢ consular services ā¢ support while studying, working or traveling in different regions of Russia
The new offices in Kazan and Yekaterinburg also improve India's presence beyond Moscow and Saint Petersburg, helping strengthen connections with other important Russian regions.
